Claudy's Kitchen
Bronx-based Claudy’s Kitchen has earned a devoted following and a Michelin Bib Gourmand award for its exceptional yet affordable cuisine. What began as a humble home operation is now one of the most beloved restaurants in the northern Bronx.
For Claudia Berroa, cooking is a family tradition passed down from her grandmother. With the support of her partner, she started selling flan and empanadas at markets and to food vendors across New York. After years of hard work and overcoming numerous setbacks, Claudy’s Kitchen opened its doors in 2020 in the Kingsbridge section of the Bronx.
More Than a Restaurant: A Warm Hug
Claudy’s Kitchen isn’t just about food—it’s an experience. Walking in feels like stepping into abuela’s kitchen: warm, welcoming, and filled with the comforting aromas of home-cooked meals. The restaurant embodies the resilience and cultural pride that define so many Latina-owned businesses.
Each dish tells a story. The Lomo Saltado, a stir-fry of beef, tomatoes, onions, and fries, pays homage to Peru’s fusion of Andean and Asian flavors. Their legendary empanadas, known for their perfectly flaky crust, are so popular they’re shipped nationwide. The menu also features Peruvian staples like ceviche, pollo a la brasa with green sauce, and chicha morada. But no visit is complete without trying their ají de gallina, a comforting shredded chicken dish in a creamy, spiced sauce.
Claudy’s Kitchen is more than just a restaurant—it’s a celebration of tradition, perseverance, and the flavors of home.
